Chanel Perfection Lumière Foundation

I already have a few Chanel products in my make up collection so I was really excited about trying out the Chanel Perfection Lumière foundation. I have a very oily t-zone and then dry patches on my chin and the rest of my face is pretty dehydrated. So seriously combination skin! Because of this I'm always cautious of purchasing a new foundation without testing it. I was colour matched in store and took a little sashet home to test.

Whenever I'm about to try a new foundation I always ask to be given the foundation with the most amount of coverage. Even at 25 I still get break outs and have some scaring from past years where I've picked at my skin so I try to stick to a foundation that will attempt to hind my red patches (not because there is anything wrong with spots, but because I feel that when I can see them, other people are starring at them!)

First thoughts :
I could tell straight away that the coverage wasn't going to be enough for me which was fustrating given that I had asked for a full coverage foundation. None the less, I continued with my application in the hope that I could built up to the coverage that I required. I really didn't like the way the foundation was settling on my skin and within just a few hours I started to look patchy, my worst nightmare!!

I applied the foundation with both a brush and a beauty blended and the application on the day when I used the beauty blended was defiantly better, but not enough that I would want to use this foundation again.

The colour had heavy pink undertones and I felt like my make up was much more obvious on my skin, which is not good especially if the foundation is going to go patchy.

I felt like the foundation broke down quicker on the day that I applied it using my brush and stayed intact a little longer on the day that I used the beauty blender. All in all, I was so disappointed with this foundation. I have a few other beauty and make I products from Chanel and have been really impressed with them, but this foundation is defiantly not a keeper.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Nutrition Lip Care

With the heating being on full pretty much everywhere I go, I find that my lips really take a battering this time of year. Because I'm constantly in and out of buildings for work, moving between heating that is on full wack and bitterly cold weather makes my lips dry and painful.

No one likes have dry lips, so I am constantly on the look out for new products that soothe and repair. The newest treatment to be added to my collection is the Chanel Hydra Beauty Nutrition Lip Balm.

The Chanel Hydra range 'responds to the hydration needs of every woman, regardless of age or skin concern'...according to Chanel.com. The whole range is specifically designed to promote moisture retention and consists of serums, creams, masks and this lip balm.

As you can imagine with any Chanel skin care product, the price tag is a little on the heavy side. This 10g tub is £30 in the UK. So with that price tag, for the amount of product you get, you'd hope to get some amazing results, fast!

Because of its price, I opted to leave my lip balm on my bed side table to use as part of my night time skin regime. I go through lip balms like no bodies business and seem to loose them all the time (a risk I wasn't willing to take with this baby).

After applying my face oil, I put a nice think layer on my lips before bed to make sure they are feeling soft and ready for the next day.

The balm itself has a beautiful silky texture and glides on. It sounds hard to believe, but within around 30 seconds my lips aleady feel smoother and the horrible chapped bits seem to disappear! But let's face it, you'd expect nothing less from Chanel, right? The texture is light and isn't greasy at all. It seems to almost melt into your skin.

It's smell is also really delicate and fresh so you don't end up with anything too over powering on your face before bed which is also really nice. Small things, but they do make a difference.

So to sum up, is the Chanel Hyrda Beauty Nutrition Lip Balm worth the price tag? I would honestly say that it really is. It does what it says on the tin and leaves my lips feeling wonderfully soft and smooth. Are there other lip balms on the market that can do the same job but for less? I would imagine so...I just haven't found them yet! Will I be buying another one of these when it runs out? I sure will. And after having so much success with this balm, I've decided I want to try some other products from the Chanel Hydra range. Watch this space.

Chanel Liner : Écrirure De Chane

I just wanted to do a really quick blog today about this amazing eye liner. Having only been in my life for a mere 4 months or so, I have to admit I'm pretty much in love with my Chanel Ecriture De Chanel in Noir.

Translated as writing / handwriting or scripture / script , I believe that Chanel were trying to highlight how similar this liner is to a pen / writing. It looks like a felt tip pen you used to use when you were in primary school (however luckily no small children have been able to blunt the end trying to colour in as hard as possible!)

Because if it's design, this liner feels so naturally easy to apply. And unlike most liquid liners, it stays black almost like a gel liner.

Although it is not as thick as a gel liner, it does still give a really good effect. As you can see from the photo below, the Chanel liner is really black.

Price wise, this liner is only around £27, which to be honest I think is pretty reasonable and isn't much more than most other eye liners on the market.

2014 favorites

Really, this has got to be the last week we can possibly look back on 2014 without it being overkill.

I wanted to quickly run through some of my favorite products from 2014. I ave tried to pull together a range of products that will enable you to have a reasonably full face, primer, foundation, powder and eye liner. Almost there :)

Starting with the base...

Primer

My favorite primer from this year has to be the Laura Mercier Foundation Primer. There are a few primers in the range that include mineral, oil free, hydrating, radiance and so on.

The one I have been using is the ... Primer

You can pick up a 50ml bottle for £29.00 from John Lewis, which I think is good value. 50ml is quite a large bottle

Foundation

I have tried so many foundations including Bobbi Brown, Estee Lauder, BareMinerals etc and always seem to come back to Boots No7 Beautifully Matte foundation. I am their lightest shade, 43 Calico.

I really struggle to find a matte, long lasting foundation that is actually pale enough for my skin, and No7 seems to be the only one I can find that ticks all of the boxes. It is also a steal at just £13.50 per bottle.

Even though this is a really, REALLY reasonably priced foundation, I don't have any issues with breakouts. I have to be so careful with what I put on my skin or I just get covered in spots.

If you're looking a cheap and cheerful, then I would defiantly recommend this foundation.

Powder

This year I started using the Shu Uemura Matte Face Powder. I have pretty oily skin, so it takes a lot of effort for a powder to keep me from looking shiney and greasy. This powder lasts me around three quarters of the day, which to be honest, I'm pretty happy with. Of course, this totally depends on what I'm doing for day. If I'm hiking or running then as to be expected, it's not going to last as well. But for my normal day - to - day activities I've really enjoyed using this and will defiantly purchase again.

Price is £27.00

Eye liner

This is a new product I started using just before Christmas and Oh My God. I love it is so much. I have tried SO many eye liners, gels and liquids, and this is by far my favorite of them all. I don't even know if I'll bother buying anything else again!? (Okay, maybe a bit of an over statement, but you get the picture)

So my new found love is the Chanel Ecriture De Chanel eyeliner pen effortless definition. I have mine in Noir, but it also comes in Brun.

When people see Chanel, they automatically think that it's going to be super expensive, but this eye liner is a mer £27, which isn't far off what you would pay at say Benefit or Bobbi Brown. So for something this amazing, it really isn't that expensive.

And I'm serious here, if there is 1 product you go out and buy after reading this blog, it is this eye liner. It's so smooth and easy to apply, it is a pure pleasure to use.

Eye Shadows

My favorite eye shadows from 2014 have to be the Make Up Geek shadows. They give amazing colour and just so cheap. I don't even know how its possible for such an amazing product to be so cheap, but it is and I love it.

At the moment, my set is looking pretty empty, and why? Because if I order these to the UK I get hit with massive handling fess from Royal Mail and customs charges :( And I know, the product is so cheap that it kind of makes it a normal price product with all the extras, so why am I complaining. Just because it makes me angry that I have to pay extra, and it takes some of the amazing-ness away from how cheap and cheerful these amazing eye shadows are. Royal Mail, you ruin Make Up Geek for me! How do you sleep at night?!

Happy shopping my lovelies, and don't forget to let me know if you try any of these products based on my recommendations. I love to hear how you have got on with them and what you think!
