They're Real Push Up Liner

So this has been a blog I have been going back and forth about for a while.

I really do fall in and out of love with this eye liner. I think I love the idea of it more than I love the product, which is a shame as there was sooo much hype behind the Push Up Liner from Benefit.

Launched as a revolution in the make up industry, there was so much excitement around this liner. I have to admit, the first time I tired it, I decided NOT to buy it!

But I kept seeing it everywhere, and I mean everywhere, so I decided to cave and try it out. And my feelings towards it have been pretty hit and miss.

What makes this product unique?

It's design is what makes it stand out vs other gel liners on the market. Rather than being in a little tub, the gel liner is in a 'pen' style applicator.

This stops the gel from drying out and allows for quick application without the need for extra tools.

You twist the bottom of the pen for more gel, but this can be pretty slow and can really slow down your make up routine.

Why gel?

Anyone who uses gel liner will know that it is a nightmare for drying out, but liquid eye liners just don't give the same intense colour.

Gel liner generally lasts longer and keeps it's colour intense throughout the day. Once you've used gel, it's hard to go back to normal liquid liner.

Price £18.50, which would be a bargain if the product worked well and lived up to it's expectations, which to me it doesn't :(

Overview

Oh I don't know! Like I said at the beginning of this review, I'm so torn about this product. I think I will buy it again, more because I love benefit...

I find that when this product works, I love it, but then I get half way through my second eye and I need to re twist and wait for the gel to move (which can take agessss) and I end up getting frustrated.

My best tip, do one eye, then twist, do something else, then come back to the second eye. Ridiculous I know....

Smashbox : 15 hour wear cream shadow

My first smashbox purchase is the Limitless 15 Hour Wear Cream Shadow in Topaz and oh my days I LOVE it

I have been using this beauty as an every day shadow, it's perfect to lighten your eye and give you a little bit of subtitle colour. It is also a great base for any other shadows as it helps to make sure powder stays in place longer.

The eye shadow has a lovely creamy texture and glides on. I just use my finger to apply it as I can get it into all the creases on my eye.

Price : £16 at Boots. I have been using this for around 2 months, and you can hardly even tell that it has been used!!

A definite make up bag basic for every skin colour and tone!

Hydraluron by indeed labs

I recently started using Hydraluron Moisture Jelly by Indeed Labs because my skins has just been so dry!

So what are my thoughts?

First things first is it has really helped with my dry skin. I normally use Creme de la mer, but decided to give this a try as something new!

I really like the texture of this, because it's a 'jelly' it's so silky and glides on. It's really light and my skin absorbs it straight away. This jelly is designed for all skin types

It has a pump lid and I find I need two pumps to cover my face and neck. The bottle recommends a pea size amount but that isn't generally enough.

It does smell very good however. It's not got a strong smell at all, but it smells 'clean'...if you can use that to describe something? So not overpowering at all.

I've found that I go through this really quickly though ;( I've been using this for around 5 weeks and I'm running pretty low already, which is quite disappointing as been as my moisturisers normally last me a good few months! (Same amount)

Price : £24.99 from Boots. So this is a serious bargain.

Overall, I would by this again, it has helped massively with my dry skin, but it just runs out so quickly! It is a good price for a quick fix, and I did notice results quickly with this. I have also heard other people with sensitive skin say that it did not aggravate their skin at all, which is great :)

Skin care : dermalogica daily microfoliant

I have been using the daily microfoliant from dermalogica for just over a week now and so far I am very happy with the results. It does have some cons though, so continue reading for my pros and cons of this daily face exfoliant.

This product is actually rice based, which I was really shocked by. Since I have been using it, I have already noticed a change in my skin. I have found that my skin has been less clogged and it appears smoother and looks healthier. I have been using this every morning and my skin is brighter and glows after use.

This exfoliant is a powder which you pour into wet hands (around half a teaspoon) and rub into a foam. The down side of this is that you cannot use this in the shower, which is when I really like to wash my face in the morning, so that is a bit annoying. It does make my morning routine a bit longer, but I do really like how my skin looks after use.

I also find that it does make my skin feel slightly tight after use (I have oily / combination skin) so people who have dry skin may find this is a bit strong? But the dryness does go away as soon as I apply moisturiser.

Price: 75g is £41.30, which I think is pretty reasonable as you only need a small amount.

All in all, I've noticed a big change in my skin since I have been using this. I also think it would be too strong to use twice a day. I also prefer to use my Shu Umerea cleansing oil in the evening as I find it removes my make quickly without leaving my skin dry.

Sisley Hydra-Global Hydratation Intense Anti Age

This week I have been trying the Sisley Hydra-Global Hydratation Intense Anti Age face cream.

I honestly cannot say anything bad about this cream. I love the smell of it, I love the texture and most importantly, I love how beautiful it makes my skin.

The cream is quite thick, which at first I was worried about as I thought it was going to be too heavy and maybe even greasy. But it glides onto the skin and feels very light. It was not greasy at all and my skin absorbed it straight away.

'With its unique combination of botanical, mineral and aromatic active ingredients allows Hydra-Global to acts on three levels: plumping up the skin’s moisture cushion, stimulating the synthesis of aquaporins-3 and thus reactivating intercellular moisture circulation and binding moisture to restore the skin’s barrier function. In this way, Hydra-Global helps the skin to regain optimal hydration and a youthful look.'

Although this tester looks small, it actually lasted a good few days. I tried to mainly use this in the morning before putting my make up on, but also tested it one night before bed.

I have to admit, this face cream is amazing both morning and night. When I woke up after sleeping with this on my skin looked beautiful! (And I normally hate my skin in the mornings) It looked smooth and more even, almost like it had been plumped up. When applying before putting my make up on, I had to leave the normal 5-10min gap before I applied my foundation to make sure it was fully absorbed into my skin and again it just made my skin look and feel so lovely.

Let's get down to the price. It's £140 for 40ml bottle. The tester lasted me around 4/5 days using it every morning and one evening.

My thoughts? Buy it! You're never too young to invest in anti-aging skin care products. If you want to look good the older you get, then you need to start using great products now.

Cover FX Illuminating Setting Power

I have been using this over the past few days and wanted to do a quick write up about my thoughts on this product.

This powder comes in two different shades, light and medium. I have been using the medium shade and as you can see from the photos below it really is not that dark. I have very VERY pale skin and it does not show up over my make up.

  • 'This powder is rich in antioxidants to soothe and reduce redness and extend foundation wear to last all day. It also provides moisturizing benefits and controls shine while offering a light luminous finish.'
I have notice a significant difference in the duration that my make up stays on with this. I really don't feel like my make up looks different at all, but then again I don't suffer from redness at all. I do however get shiny spots, specifically on my T-zone, but they appear to reduce when I have this on!

This powder is also so light. If you are worried that applying more product to your face will make you 'cake', then you do not need to worry here. This really does not clog and it will not feel you looking like you have too much make up on.

Price wise : for a 10 g tub this will cost you £28. The product does go sooo far and I think a 10g tub would last you a good few months as you really don't need to apply much to your face to get the full benefits of this.

House Of Fraser Beauty Event

Last week I went to a beauty event at House Of Fraser in Bristol.

The main reason for the event was to showcase upcoming trends and to promote their in-store spa and salon.

The event was called Summer Carnival Of Colour. The bottom floor (all of the beauty counters, nail bars and salon etc) stayed open to host the evening.

There was a range of finger foods and cocktails for all of the guests, and those who brought beauty products also got a little bag of treats.

Each of the counters had their own little display. My favourite was the Clairns counter. They had some lovely cake stands and an area to have a seat and talk about their products.

The in-store hair salon is part of the Aveda group and I believe they have 16 stations for their hair stylists.

We also had a tour around their spa which hosts 3 treatment rooms and a relaxing seating area.

I didn't stay for the whole evening, only around an hour or so. It was a nice event but I don't feel like they planned for as many people to turn up? It was slightly bitty in places but cramped at the salon entrance. Overal it was a great idea, but not executed as well as I would have hoped.
